WELCOME TO ONTARIO SUNSHINE ON SCHOOLS

Ontario Sunshine on Schools is an interactive clearinghouse containing financial data for Ontario’s publicly funded school boards. This website is a valuable tool for policymakers, trustees, school administrators, media, parents, and taxpayers. Here, you will be able to search through School Board Summary pages to find current and historical data for any publicly funded Ontario School Board. You will be able to select and compare up to 5 school boards at one time.

The purpose of the Ontario – Sunshine on Schools website is to provide policy-makers and the general public with information on the revenue and expenditures of Ontario’s schools and to improve accountability within our education system by linking learning outcomes to costs.

Please take time to review our Usage Agreement before viewing the site.

Ontario Sunshine on Schools is a tool to help Ontario citizens better understand K-12 education funding, spending, and academic achievement. Too often these issues become emotional and politicized, especially when the ordinary citizen doesn’t have easy access to the facts. This website provides a place where the dollars and cents of education funding, spending, enrollment, and achievement are under one roof. We make no judgments; we merely hope that by having easy access to the facts, the citizens of Ontario will be able to formulate their own opinions on value for dollar spent.

The data on this website are taken from publicly-available information at the Ontario Ministry of Education, the Education Quality and Accountability Office, and each of the publicly-funded Ontario school boards. While we have made every effort to ensure the accuracy of the data, there are bound to be a few mistakes. If you find an error, please report it to us by emailing This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it . We welcome your comments and suggestions.

Ontario Sunshine on Schools is an ever-evolving project that will constantly be updated as new data become available. Over time, new features may be added. To make sure that you find out about updates to this website, please sign up for SQE’s free quarterly e-newsletter by clicking here.

We hope that you find our website helpful and easy to use.
